4th Annual Doesha Cup Hosts Legalized Medical Cannabis Competition

California Dispensaries, Educators, Anti-Prohibition Activists, Professional Athletes and Celebrities Support This One-of-a-Kind Well-Being Event

Los Angeles, CA ( – In celebration of legalized medical cannabis, Green Entertainment presents The 4th Annual Doesha Cup, a medicinal cannabis competition event on December 13, 2008 from 3pm to Midnight in a discreet and safe downtown Los Angeles location.

The Doesha Cup is Southern California’s leading marijuana strain competition judged by California Proposition 215 patients and caregivers, anti-prohibition activists, educators, and celebrities. Prop 215 patients and Cannabis enthusiasts will have an opportunity to sample, evaluate and rank over 20+ strains of California’s top medicinal marijuana strains. This invitation-only, legalized celebration provides a safe and discreet place where California Proposition 215 patients and caregivers can gather and celebrate medicinal marijuana through entertainment, networking and educational seminars.

Hosted by Comedians Spanky Hayes and Scruncho, the festival includes special comedic and musical performances by the B-Side Players, Los Marijuanos, Blaze Mob, Funtime Band featuring LTD’s original drummer and more. Participating celebrities include Andre’ Royo (“Bubbles” from THE WIRE), Melyssa Ford (Actress, Model), along with professional Athletes and the Marijuana Guru Ed Rosenthal.

Other event highlights include a Miss Doesha Cup Beauty Competition, cannabis-related vendors, food, beverages, and music provided by a celebrity DJ. Non-profit organizations and anti-prohibition activists will be on hand to offer educational materials.

Green Entertainment fashioned the Doesha Cup from Amsterdam’s Cannabis Cup in an effort to bring awareness and visibility to the rights under California Proposition 215 and offer patients an entertaining experience through medication. “We are excited to introduce more patients and caregivers to our event but more importantly expose the use of medicinal marijuana here in California to the unknown” said Dennis Fomond from Green Entertainment. “Creating this festive event allows patients to medicate in a controlled atmosphere & sample a variety of strains to alleviate chronic pain and other ailments.”

This year’s event is sponsored by several California dispensaries and supporting vendors.

Presale general admission tickets are available to Proposition 215 patient/caregivers; no tickets will be sold at the door. Doors will close at 4:30pm, no exceptions.

Prop. 215, the California Compassionate Use Act, was enacted by the voters and took effect on Nov. 6, 1996 as California Health & Safety Code 11362.5. The law removes criminal penalties for personal use, possession and cultivation of marijuana for medical purposes by patients (and their designated “primary caregivers”) who have a physician’s recommendation or approval.
